Abstract

Merokok dapat menyebabkan perubahan warna khas seperti Smoker's melanosis. Tujuan penellitian ini untuk mengetahui prevalensi perokok aktif di lingkungan YARSI yang mempunyai Smoker's melanosis pada gingiva akibat merokok. Smoker's melanosis dipengaruhi oleh jenis rokok, lamanya merokok, jumlah batang rokok/hari, dan cara menghisap rokok. Sampel penelitian berjumlah 100 orang dan pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan metode non-random sampling yaitu purpose sampling. Melalui uji statistik ditemukan, prevalensi Smoker's melanosis pada perokok aktif di Universitas YARSI sebanyak 87 orang dari 100 orang yang diteliti. Kejadian Smoker's melanosis banyak dijumpai pada perokok yang mengonsumsi rokok putih, lama merokok kurang dari 5 tahun, jumlah rokok 5-14 batang/hari, dan dengan hisapan dalam.
