Abstract
Malposisi gigi merupakan kelainan gigi yang seringkali diamati. Resesi gingiva adalah masalah jaringan periodontal yang paling umum terjadi. Terdapat kontroversi mengenai peran malposisi gigi sebagai salah satu faktor etiologi resesi gingiva. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui hubungan antara malposisi gigi dengan resesi gingiva pada Mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas YARSI. Penelitian kros-sesksional ini dilakukan pada 83 individu berusia 18-24 tahun dengan menggunakan pemeriksaan klinis. Pertama, malposisi gigi dicatat. Pengukuran resesi gingiva dilakukan pada permukaan labial gigi. Melalui uji Chi-square ditemukan, ternyata resesi gingiva lebih banyak diamati pada gigi yang malposisi daripada gigi dengan posisi normal (nilai p = 0.000). Disimpulkan bahwa terdapat hubungan antara malposisi gigi dengan terjadinya resesi gingiva.
